Wedding Clothes

Wedding Clothes

It always takes some time to plan for an important wedding.  Teacher Bruce Malowa is getting married May 7.  All of the children will be going to the church ceremony and the 6 grade 7th students will go to the reception.  Knowing that many of our children will need new clothes, we decided to start planning now.   So one day last week we told them to put on their best clothes and line up.  What a hodge podge of outfits we had!   A few were fine, although Gift small - proud of his jacket - is to big for it.  Kimberly and I looked at each one and wrote down what they needed.  So only about 3 girls had a dress that was good enough.  Fortunately, in the recent Delaware container someone had sent a box of fancy dresses, probably some from weddings.  So later in the week, Kimberly came to school and we called the girls in small groups to come and pick out something, which they tried on.  It still left about 4 girls needing dresses.  Fortunately, Maureen Kunda is a creative whiz and is able to make wonderful dresses for the girls.  We plan to try and get fancy flip flops for their shoes.  Maureen will also make ties for all the boys.  We will need to get pants for a few and shirts for some.  Some of these things are outside our budget for clothing, so if anyone wants to contribute something, that would be great.  If we get more than we need, we will use it to buy other clothes items that we don't have from donated items.

Needless to say, we are all excited about the wedding.  I asked Bruce this week to talk to the kids about why he wants to get married in a church, and what being married means to him.  We both see this as a learning time for the children.  They won't get to go to many weddings!
