Yesterday our daughter in the US had a baby boy - Zion Alpha Oppong. He was a little early but I will be going back to help very soon. At our village we are expecting the youngest brother of the 4 Chanda children. Matthew is 2 1/2 and is expected to come any day. His blind grandparents have agreed that they can't take care of him.

Killer Bees
Last Wednesday was a very difficult day. I've read and heard about African killer bees and we saw what can happen first hand. We had bees in our verandah roof but didn't realize how bad they were. Something set them off and they began to swarm and attack our dogs and puppies. Colby (a large German Shepherd and father of the puppies), Samantha (a large Rhodesian Ridgeback who was the mother of the puppies), and 7 puppies all were killed. We remain with 2 puppies who Sena has been nursing back to health, and Zee our small dog that stays in the house. We are very grateful that no children or people were around when the attack began. All of us will be very alert to bees forming hives anywhere on the property.
New Child
This week we are expecting Matthew Chanda to arrive. He is the 2 ½ year old brother of Shaibu, Tereshina, Maselino, and Joshua. So he will join the house where they live. Blind grandparents have been taking care of him. He was suppose to come with the others, but the grandmother didn't want to part with him. She realizes that she can't take care of him, so he will join his siblings.
New Teacher
Yesterday was the first day for our new teacher, Bruce Mulowa. Since Teacher Precious is leaving at the end of March, we wanted to hire someone right away to be able to have plenty of time for training and understanding out school. He has just finished his teacher training and did his practical teaching at Okada Community School in our neighbor Nyrienda Village.
