Will there be water?

I'm headed out the door on this Monday to go to school. I'm not quite sure what the water situation will be. We have 2 well pumps down because Zesco, the electric company, often has power surges that burn up motors. Our water at school comes from both an electric pump and the play pump.

We need water for drinking, washing hands, cooking lunch for 145 people, washing all the dishes for that many and flushing toilets. Fortunately we still have our backup pit latrines, but with 135 students it can mean long lines!

Hopefully, our kids will have the energy and willingness to go around and around on the play pump to get at least the minimum water that we need.

We are asking that if you are able to help us with the cost of 2 new pumps and better surge protection, please go to our website: www.akcli.org to help. Thanks so much and I'll give a report on how the day goes.

have you guys considered solar energy to supply the water pump. Might be a good capital investment. Not sure what your hail storms might be like. That would damage it. One could set up solar energy panels to supply batteries that could power a pump without the power surges. Not sure who whould supply those in Zambia. Maybe USAID, UNESCO.
